One Time Astros GM, Al Rosen, Dies at 91

Astros logo 2Owner John McMullen hired Rosen to replace popular Astros GM Tal Smith right after the Astros made their 1st playoff appearance in 1980.  His teams never made the playoffs in his 5 years in Houston but his moves led to the ’86 playoff appearance.  As SI reporter Cliff Corcoran writes, Rosen’s life was at times successful but often-times tragic & disappointing.
