The buzz has already begun as to the future of Carmelo Anthony. Will he stay in New York? Will he go to Chicago? Or will he end up in the Bayou City?

Here’s hoping it’s not the latter. It’s true Melo can score with the best of them. But when has this guy ever truly put a team on his back, outside of his days at Syracuse, and led them to big things? For all the hype Melo has gotten throughout his career, he’s been to one conference finals. He has gotten eliminated in the first round as often as it is cold in Barrow, Alaska.

Of course, he wouldn’t have to carry the Rockets. But they’d have to pay him like he was when they are already giving big money to Howard and Harden. And it’s not like Melo is getting any younger. The Rockets are on a good path and more often than not, Morey has made the right moves.

Getting Melo would be the wrong move. It would tie up tons of money in a player that truly hasn’t proven he’s a winner in the NBA. Howard and Harden have each been to a Finals. Melo hasn’t. This is the first season Howard and Harden have been together. Keep growing a good thing. Remember, the Knicks were on the right path after finally getting cap space and they still had cap space even after making what has turned out to be a bad move with Amare Stoudamire. They threw that away to bring Melo aboard and they are pretty much as dreadful as they were during the Isiah Thomas era. There is absolutely no reason for the Rockets to go down that path.
